Silver medal for Sri Lanka by R.Senthooran of Jaffna Hindu in Melbourne

Mas.R.Senthooran from Jaffna Hindu College bags a silver medal for Sri Lanka in high jump at the 2012 Adidas All Schools Track & Field Championships held today, Sunday, 11th November 2012 at 2.30pm at the Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park, Melbourne.In the U16 high jump, Mas.R.Senthooran reached 1.95m and came second, winning a silver medal for his school and country. The gold medal was won by an Australian national who reached 1.98m. The Jaffna Hindu old boys and the Melbourne and Sydney OBAs encouraged him to give his best.
Senthooran is a national gold medallist in high jump, having set a new record in the National Athletic Meet 2012.Eight students from Sri Lanka are participating in the 2012 Adidas All Schools Track & Field Championships that is being held from 10th to 11th November 2012 at the Lakeside Stadium at Albert Park, Melbourne, Australia.Mas.R.Senthooran had set a new record of 1.92 meter in Under 16 High Jump event at the National Junior Athletic Meet 2012 held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in May 2012 and won the gold medal. He also holds the school under 16 high jump record of 1.7m set at the college Athletic Meet 2012. He represents Sellathurai house at school.
The Principal Mr.V.Ganesharajah, Mr.P.Jeyaratnarajah, Teacher in Charge of Sports, Mr.K.Swaminathan, Teacher in Charge of Atheletics, Mr.C.Ramanan, Special Coach, other staff, his parents and old boys supported him to reach this height.The Principal and the Jaffna Hindu community thank the Melbourne OBA President Mr.Athithan Thangarajah and other members, Sydney OBA President Mr.S.Mahendravarman and other members for their encouragement and support to Mas.Senthooran.
