Jaffna Hindu College Annual Sports Meet 2015 on Tuesday, 24 Feb: Mr. R.C.Ramanathan , the Chief Guest

mMr. R.C.Ramanathan currently living in Germany will be the Chief Guest this year at the college annual inter house athletics meet that will take place on coming Tuesday the 24th of February. He is our OBA President in Germany. He is holding a diploma in Marketing and employed as purchasing manager in an internationally oriented Food import export company in Germany. His wife Ms. Selvakumari Ramanathan an old girl of Kopay Christian College will distribute the prizes.

Mr.Ramanathan well known as “RC” studied at the college from 1970 to 1977 April. At studies, He has passed the NPTA examination in first division in 1970 and in 1971 he has won the college Physics prize in grade 9. He left the school after sitting the GCE (A/L) and worked at Brown and company, Colombo before migrating to Germany.

His contribution in the field of sports to the school was immense. In the field of sports and games, he represented the college teams in Hockey, Football, Athletics, Basketball and in U-16 Cricket.

He captained the college Hockey team and represented the Jaffna schools team in 1973, 1974 and in 1975 and was in the Hockey pool formed by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association in 1976. He was awarded Hockey Colours in 1974. He became as college hockey coach in 1975 and in 1976. After leaving school, He represented the Kandy Hockey Association team and the Mercantile Hockey Association teams at the national hockey championships for many years.

He represented the college football teams from 1971 to 1976. He also vice captained the first team in 1976 which won the JSSA championship and He played for the Jaffna schools football team that became Runner up in the All Island Inter District Tournament in 1976.

He was Athletics Captain and Treasurer of Pasupathy house and participated in the annual sports meets from 1972 to 1976. He was a member of the college U19 relay team (4x400m) which won the first place in the JSSA meet and in the Zonal meet in 1975.

He was an active member of the college Police Cadet Corp and held the ranks of Senior Corporal and Lance Sergeant. He was elected as the Best Cadet in the college in 1975. He attended the annual camps held in 1973, 1974 and in 1975 at the Kalutara Police Training School.

He was a Prefect of the college as well as the hostel from May 1974 to April 1977. In 1976 He functioned as the Hostel Senior Prefect. He was an Executive Committee member of the college cooperative society in 1975.
